Window Wonderland Walk & Contest

A record number of Downtown Syracuse businesses (44!) have transformed their ground-floor windows into engaging winter and holiday scenes to celebrate the season in the Downtown Committee’s 5th Annual Window Wonderland Walk! Stroll through Downtown Syracuse and check out the businesses identified on a Window Wonderland map, accessible by clicking here, and then go inside these businesses - behind the windows - to see what’s inside! Vote for your favorite displays between now and Sunday, January 2. The promotion was designed to boost holiday spirit, entertain visitors, and attract new customers to experience Downtown Syracuse’s variety of retail, restaurant and cultural offerings. The top three displays to earn the most votes will receive prizes: $500 for First Place, $250 for Second Place and $100 for Third Place. Winning displays will be announced in the Downtown Committee’s newsletter on Tuesday, January 4.

Gingerbread Gallery

Now – Sunday, January 9: 10:00 am – 4:00 pm

Come experience the Erie Canal Museum and see how its Gallery transforms into a festive 1800s canal town street scene with gingerbread creations on display through storefront windows. The tradition, now in its 36th year, features dozens of displays from amateur and professional bakers across the region. Vote for your favorite! The museum is open daily but will be closed on November 25, December 25 and January 1.

Cost: $10 Adults / $7 Seniors (ages 65+) / $4 Children (ages 3 - 17) / Free for children 2 years old and under

Disney on Ice

Thursday, December 30 – Sunday, January 2

Mickey Mouse joins Minnie Mouse, Donald Duck and Goofy to sail with Moana, travel to Frozen’s Arendalle with Anna and Elsa, and “just keep swimming” with Dory and Hank of Finding Nemo fame. The audience will celebrate true friendship with the Toy Story crew and experience all of the feels with The Emotions from Inside Out. Plus, see Cinderella, Rapunzel – and the other Disney princesses – achieve their dreams through bravery, kindness and perseverance. Share the excitement of these Disney stories and more as they come to life during Disney on Ice!

Fun Holiday Activities at The Central Library

Central Library has a variety of activities to help you connect with family and friends, preserve your memories, and research your history this holiday season.

KidSpace: The KidSpace on the second floor features a different craft each week. Plus, children are encouraged to check out the collection of books for families and challenge one another to a Wii game competition.

Local History and Genealogy:
Family Trees make great gifts! The Local History and Genealogy Department on the third floor has all of the items you need to get started on your family tree. You can also preserve photos or VHS holiday memories with a visit to the Preservation Lab.
